What happens when an alert fires. A security analyst reviews it around the clock and acts on it — remediating it, noting it in the console, or taking the device off the network to contain it. Containment is one of those three outcomes, not what happens every time.
A contained device stays off the network until we review it.
- The person using it sees a notice explaining what happened, so a machine dropping off the network is not a mystery.
- You cannot put it back yourself — we manage release, and we talk to you about how to proceed.
- That review happens within one business day. An alert overnight or at the weekend holds contained until the next business day; there is no out-of-hours line to call, and containment is doing its job in the meantime.
- On Windows, the machine may need one restart after we release it before the network comes back.
Monitoring, containment and that review are included. Work beyond containment — troubleshooting, incident response, recovery — is $250 per incident. That is the one difference between this and the serviced plans: Ridge Family includes up to 2 incident response sessions a year. The review window is the same on both.
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Monthly plans renew every month; annual plans are charged for the full year up front and renew every twelve months, at the price shown above. I'm not very technical. Is this still for me?
Especially for you. The whole point is that you don't need to understand the technical details. We set things up properly and explain what you need to know in plain language.
What does the "always-on protection" actually do?
It's professional security software running quietly on your computer, monitored 24/7 by a real security operations team. If something dangerous tries to install itself or access your files, it's stopped - and you're notified. The same kind of protection used by hospitals and banks.
My elderly parent lives in another state - can you still help them?
Yes. Most sessions are conducted remotely over video, which works well for helping family members anywhere in the country. Ridge Family is designed exactly for this.
Will my private information stay private?
Yes. The relationship is governed by a confidentiality agreement, and access to your accounts is limited to what's needed to help. Your information is never sold, shared, or used for marketing.
How is this different from Norton, McAfee, or LifeLock?
Those are software products. This is software plus a real person who knows you. Most security problems for individuals aren't caused by viruses - they're caused by clicking the wrong link, reusing the wrong password, or trusting the wrong message. Software alone doesn't solve those. A person can.
