Cyber insurance brokers: a working directory
Businesses ask us who should place their cyber policy, because we prepare them for the application but do not sell insurance. This page is the answer: brokers and agencies we can point to, from Triangle independents to national houses.
Disclosure, before anything else: Obsidian Ridge is not an insurance producer, broker, or agent. We do not sell, place, or advise on insurance products. No money moves between Obsidian Ridge and anyone listed here — no referral fees, no commissions, no premium share, in either direction. Listings are editorial, free, and unranked within each section.
Broker, carrier, or platform — know which one you are talking to
- A broker or independent agent works for you. They shop your application across carriers, translate the questionnaire, and advocate on a claim.
- A carrier writes the policy and pays (or denies) the claim. You usually reach them through a broker.
- Insurtech platforms and MGAs — Coalition, At-Bay, Corvus, Cowbell — sit between the two: technology-driven underwriters whose policies brokers can place. A scan from one is underwriting input, not a security program.

What we do on the other side of the application
A broker can only place what you can evidence. The Cyber Insurance Readiness Sprinttakes the carrier's questionnaire question by question, closes the gaps that can be closed, and produces the signed evidence pack the underwriter reads — $1,500 to $3,500, seven business days. Start with the 10 controls the 2026 questionnaire scores.
For brokers
If your clients keep failing the security half of the application, that is the half we fix — and the evidence pack we hand back is written in your carrier's language. To be listed here, or to talk about what a readiness referral looks like: request a briefing. Listing is free and stays free; the disclosure above applies to everyone, including us.
