Island Enterprise Browser for small businesses and practices: no minimum, month to month

Obsidian Ridge deploys and manages the Island Enterprise Browser for firms of any size, including a one-person firm, at $18 per user per month, month to month with no minimum number of users, with zero-configuration initial onboarding and CISSP-led support for businesses in the Research Triangle and anywhere in the United States. Managed browser policies give your business control over work-app access and how client data is copied, downloaded, uploaded or printed; we resell Island and earn money when you buy it through us.

What it does

A work browser lets your business set the rules for access and client data, including when staff use personal computers or contractors need access.

  • Centrally managed policies keep the work-browser settings under your control.
  • Data-loss prevention controls uploads, downloads, printing and the clipboard.
  • Compromised-credential alerts and protected accounts help you manage work sign-ins.
  • Browser-based RDP/SSH sessions support remote work. Private-resource access is scoped separately.
01 / Easy to get started

Easy from the start

Initial onboarding with Obsidian Ridge is zero-configuration. Your team starts with a familiar browser, and we manage the policies for your work apps.

If your team needs remote access to private office applications, we scope the connection around the applications they use. That is separate from getting started with the browser.

02 / Beyond the browser

Island Desktop for installed business software

Island Desktop currently requires Island Enterprise Browser and works alongside it on Windows and macOS. It extends access and data controls to installed business software and the device.

For remote access to systems hosted on your business’s private network, such as practice-management software or file shares, we confirm the applications and connectivity your team needs. Desktop is month-to-month with no minimum; ask us for the scope and price.

03 / Keep your browser

Browser extension option

Keep the browser your team already uses. Island Extension supports Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows and macOS, with data protection and access controls managed centrally.

The full browser offers the deepest set of capabilities; the extension brings core controls to existing browsers. Ask us for extension pricing and the scope that fits your team. The extension is month-to-month with no minimum.

How it fits with computer protection

MDR watches the device. Island controls what the browser and remote sessions can reach. They cover different parts of the workday.

Who it is for

Practices and firms whose whole day runs in web apps, where the browser is the last place a client file can be stopped.

Dental practices

Reception and clinical staff spend the day in the practice-management portal, imaging tools and email. Patient data lives in those windows, and a download to a personal device is one way it leaves the practice.

Law firms

Associates and partners live in case management, document management, court-filing portals, e-signature and email. Confidential material walks out through a paste into a personal chat, an unsanctioned upload, or a save to a home cloud drive.

CPA and accounting firms

Filing season runs in web apps: tax software, client portals, payroll and e-signature. Seasonal contractors may work on their own computers, and client financial data is in every window.

Financial advisers and small investment firms

The custodian portal, the CRM, planning software, e-signature and email all run in the browser, so that is where client account data sits all day. The exposure is a statement or a client list downloaded to a personal computer, or pasted into a personal AI chat.

For solo advisers and small investment firms, see our RIA cybersecurity and Regulation S-P guide.

FAQ

Is there a minimum number of users?

No. One user is fine. Obsidian Ridge deploys and manages the Island Enterprise Browser at $18 per user per month, month to month, and you can cancel any time. Add-ons are priced separately.

Do you only work with businesses in North Carolina?

No. We serve businesses in the Research Triangle and across the United States, and we already support firms outside North Carolina. The browser and its admin console are managed from the cloud, so setup and support do not depend on where your office is.

Can downloads be blocked from reaching the computer?

Yes. For each work app, a download can be allowed, watermarked or blocked, so a client file never lands in a personal folder. The same per-app rules cover copy and paste, uploads, printing and screen capture.

Do staff sign in with the accounts we already use?

Yes. Island works with the identity provider your firm already has, and names Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and Okta on its own site. We confirm your provider and the sign-in flow before we deploy.

Does it run on a Mac?

Yes. Island lists the browser on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Island Desktop runs on Windows and macOS, and the Island Extension supports Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows and macOS.

How is this different from buying Island directly?

Island is built for large organizations and sells through partners. Through Obsidian Ridge a small firm gets the same browser one user at a time, with the setup and the admin console handled for you.

What does the Island Enterprise Browser cost for a small business?

Obsidian Ridge deploys and manages it at $18 per user per month, month to month with no minimum number of users. These terms apply to Browser, Extension, Desktop and add-ons. Add-ons are priced separately. Ask us about the browser extension.

Can Island replace a VPN for a small office?

Yes, for applications and resources covered by your access scope. Island works with existing Zero Trust access systems, or with Island Private Access, our separately priced add-on for private applications. VPN replacement is separate from zero-configuration initial browser onboarding.

How do I stop employees pasting client data into ChatGPT?

We manage browser policies for the clipboard, uploads, downloads and printing. Those policies control whether client data can leave a work application. Island AI Protect is a separately priced add-on for controls on data sent to AI tools.

Can staff reach an on-premises file share or practice software remotely without a VPN?

Yes, when the required private access is in scope. Island Desktop works alongside Island Enterprise Browser on Windows and macOS for native applications and on-premises resources; the browser supports RDP/SSH sessions.

We confirm the applications, connectivity and any separately priced add-ons before deployment.

Set the policy behind the browser controls

Use the staff AI policy template and AI assessment comparison to define approved tools and data before enforcing the rules.
